ISLAMABAD: World Bank President David Malpass has arrived in the federal capital today on a two-day visit to Pakistan.
David Malpass is scheduled to hold talks with Pakistani leadership and discuss means to strengthen the economy of the country.
According to the World Bank office Islamabad, Malpass will also meet Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He will also meet Sindh chief minister, federal and provincial ministers, advisors, governor State Bank of Pakistan, and members of Parliament.
In a statement, Malpass said, “My visit to Pakistan provides a good opportunity to discuss the need for important reforms to stabilize the Pakistani economy and accelerate broad-based growth.”

He added, “I look forward to hearing from Prime Minister Imran Khan and the chief ministers on their priorities and how the World Bank Group can best work with Pakistan to improve its business and job environment and create conditions for people to gain education, skills and good health.”

The visit carries special importance in the backdrop of Pakistan’s recent inclusion among top-20 global reformers on Ease of Doing Business Index.

Recently Pakistan climbed up 28 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index and achieved a place among the top 10 countries with the most improved business climate.
