A woman on Sunday received severe burn injuries and later died at a hospital after her husband set her on fire due to a domestic dispute in Sheikhupura.
As per media reports, the deceased woman was the mother of six children. The brother of the victim said that the character of his brother-in-law was suspicious.
He also stated that due to his suspicious character most of the time they (husband and wife) exchanged abusive language against each other and after that the accused also used to torture her.
Soon after receiving the report of the incident, local police reached the spot and arrested the accused from the crime scene. Police registered a case against the accused and started an investigation.
In a separate case on the same day, a young woman was found dead with a slit throat at her home in Lahore. Police have arrested her husband and others.
Crimes against women in Pakistan are a serious issue as over minor disputed women are being killed by their relatives every day.
