Lahore: An alleged incident of violence against a woman has been reported at a bakery in the Gulshan-e-Ravi area over the return of a spoiled sandwich, prompting police to register a case and launch an investigation.
According to police sources, the incident occurred a few days ago when a woman visited the bakery to return a sandwich she claimed was spoiled. The staff reportedly refused to accept the return, which led to a heated exchange between the two sides.
Police sources said the situation escalated when the woman allegedly knocked over a box placed near the cash counter and slapped the cashier. The cashier, in turn, allegedly assaulted the woman.
The victim, however, has contested this version of events. She maintains that she did not initiate any provocation and alleges that the bakery staff first verbally abused and misbehaved with her before physically assaulting her.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered at the Gulshan-e-Ravi Police Station. Meanwhile, the bakery cashier named in the case has obtained interim bail from the court to avoid arrest.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the facts of the incident.
