Winter in Punjab typically begins in late November or early December, when the temperature drops significantly and cold winds start to blow.
However, this year, meteorologists predict that winter will likely start relatively early in the region, with cold winds expected to begin blowing in various parts of the province by the end of this month or early November.
According to experts, the reason for the early onset of winter is the heavy rainfall in Punjab this year, while rains have been predicted in October as well.
Rains have been continuing in different parts of Punjab since yesterday, while there is a possibility of more rain in different parts of the province today as well.
As per media reports, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms on Saturday lashed various parts of Punjab, including Lahore.
Areas such as Gulberg, Kalma Chowk, Laxmi Chowk, Johar Town, and Cantt were hit by intense rain and lightning. Similar weather conditions were reported in Okara, Sahiwal, Mureedke, Pattoki, and Jaranwala.
According to the Meteorological Department, Lahore recorded 19.5 mm of rain overall, with the highest rainfall — 38 mm — reported in Gulshan Ravi, followed by 36 mm in Gulberg, 35 mm in Samanabad, and 34 mm in Iqbal Town.
