The Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds, dust storms, thunderstorms, and rainfall across the upper and central parts of the country from June 16 to June 20, while weather conditions are expected to remain unstable in various regions during this period.
According to the Meteorological Department, a western weather system is likely to enter the northern parts of the country and may persist until June 20. At the same time, moist winds from the Arabian Sea will move into the central and northern regions, activating this weather system.
In Punjab and Islamabad, dust-laden winds, windstorms, thunderstorms, and rainfall are expected at various locations between June 16 and June 20. Areas likely to be affected include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and other districts. Some places may also experience hailstorms and heavy rainfall.
In Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, intermittent rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected from June 16 to June 22. Some upper areas could receive heavy rainfall and hail.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dust storms and thunderstorms with rain are forecast in various districts from June 16 to June 20, with the possibility of heavy downpours and hail at a few locations.
The northern and northeastern parts of Balochistan are also expected to receive rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms during the same period.
In upper Sindh, dust storms and thunderstorms with rain are likely from June 16 to June 20. Meanwhile, Karachi and surrounding areas may experience dust storms along with light rainfall during this period.
The Meteorological Department has warned that strong winds and hailstorms could damage weak structures, electricity poles, and solar panels. It has also expressed concerns about possible landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
There is also a risk of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, and Faisalabad. Farmers have been advised to manage their crops according to weather conditions, while tourists and travelers have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution.
The Meteorological Department has further instructed relevant authorities to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
