Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has revealed that he was removed from a flight at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after a dispute with airline staff regarding his seating.
The incident occurred aboard a Frontier Airlines flight, and Nurmagomedov, a Muslim and undefeated (29-0) UFC legend, took to X on Monday to share his side of the story. He raised concerns that the situation might have involved racial discrimination.
Footage of the confrontation quickly spread online, with initial reports erroneously stating it took place on an Alaskan Airlines flight.
The disagreement arose over whether Nurmagomedov, seated in the plane’s exit row, was fit or able to assist other passengers during an emergency. Despite his fluent English and willingness to comply, Nurmagomedov described the flight attendant as “very rude from the very beginning.” He emphasized that he agreed to assist but was still told to leave his seat.
He questioned the reasons behind the decision, wondering whether it was based on racial, national, or other factors.
While the exact date of the incident remains unclear, Frontier Airlines has not yet issued a comment. In the video, a flight attendant can be heard telling Nurmagomedov, “We cannot allow you to sit in the exit row… I am not going to do this back and forth. I’ll go call a supervisor. You can either take a different seat or we can escort you off the plane.” Nurmagomedov responded by saying, “It’s not fair.”
