Since Bollywood screenwriter Javed Akhtar has crushed Pakistanis’ hearts with his sour words of no wisdom, Adeel Hashmi has come under the radar of outraged netizens.
It all started when Javed Akhtar attended the 7th edition of the International Faiz Festival held in Lahore, in memory of poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
The event aimed to promote Urdu poetry, music, literature, and drama, as well as human rights in the country, but Javed had other plans.
During the event, the Indian screenwriter made some controversial yet hurtful remarks against Pakistan which sparked a new controversy.
The same day, Akhtar was seen at a party apparently hosted by Ali Zafar; an event where Akhtar was treated with great honour and hospitality.
In the same same, through a video, Adeel Hashmi, who is also the grandson of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, was seen sitting with Akhtar and kissing his hands which Akhtar can be clearly shoving his hands off Adeel Hashmi.
This triggered many social media users even Anoushey Ashraf showed disappointment.
Giving respect to a guest is essential. But never at the cost of your own self respect. The way some were hanging off javed akhtar sb’s leg in admiration was a tad bit extra willingness to please. Maybe he’d be weary of his words if we’d shown him the dignity we have? (or lack?)

Many questions have been raised by Hashmi’s gesture that Javed Akhtar so conveniently overlooked the systemic intolerance prevalent in India but our artists are busy treating them as superior.
For some users, the question was if it was Javed Akhtar who invented Urdu or something because the way Adeel Hashmi acted around him was confusing. The users also questioned why no one is talking about how Javed Akhtar pulled away his hand from Hashmi.
