LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued notices to 15 Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) about the ongoing investigations into overbilling and subsequent bill removals.
The action concerns the period from 2020 to 2024, with the bureau demanding that all involved officers present records of their actions during this time.
According to the notice, NAB sought detailed documentation of overbilling incidents and the subsequent removal of these inflated bills.
In addition, the officers are instructed to clarify the individuals responsible for issuing directives to remove the bills.
The Deputy Director of NAB emphasized that these officers must provide full transparency and cooperate with the investigation by submitting all relevant records, which will be scrutinized as part of the ongoing inquiry into potential corruption and misconduct within the utility company.
The development highlights the increasing accountability measures being implemented in state-owned enterprises to address concerns regarding mismanagement and customer exploitation.
