The Punjab Cabinet has approved a comprehensive financial assistance program for laborers and low-income workers. This decision was made during the 25th meeting of the provincial cabinet.
According to details, a key highlight of the meeting was the launch of financial aid for laborers, under which 1.5 million laborers will receive monthly financial assistance of Rs10,000 through new subsidized cards.
Other important decisions were also made during the cabinet meeting. Farmers will now benefit from the Electronic Warehouse Receipt System, which will allow them to store wheat without incurring additional storage costs, as the government will cover these expenses.
In addition, the cabinet approved an amendment to the 1957 Food Grains (Licensing Control) Order, under which flour mills are required to purchase 25% of their wheat directly from farmers. Failure to comply may result in license cancellation. The wheat sector has also been deregulated to ensure better market dynamics.
To improve public services and transportation, the government approved an environmentally friendly electric bus project for Rajanpur and approved feasibility studies for mass transit systems (Yellow, Blue, and Purple Lines) in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Lahore.
In the health sector, the cabinet approved additional funds for the purchase of medicines, equipment, and hospital furniture to further improve patient care in tertiary hospitals.
