Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken a significant step towards revolutionizing healthcare accessibility in the province with the inauguration of the “Clinics on Wheels Project” in Lahore.
The project, consisting of 200 mobile clinics, aims to deliver essential medical services directly to the doorsteps of the people, ensuring access to healthcare for approximately four million residents.
Each mobile clinic will be equipped with a doctor, a Lady Health Visitor (LHV), and a dispenser, providing medications and essential medical tests to patients. Additionally, certain vehicles will offer ultrasound facilities to cater to the needs of pregnant women.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of bringing healthcare services closer to communities, particularly those residing in densely populated areas where accessing hospitals can pose significant challenges. She reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of Punjab’s residents by extending healthcare facilities directly to their doorsteps.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to spearhead another milestone in the healthcare sector, CM Maryam Nawaz credited the collective efforts of the health ministry, health secretary, and the entire health department. She underscored the significance of the initial months of governance in setting a positive trajectory for the government’s initiatives.
In her remarks, CM Maryam Nawaz lamented the discontinuation of previous public welfare projects by the previous government and affirmed her commitment to continuing the successful initiatives launched by her predecessors, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.
In addition to the Clinics on Wheels Project, CM Maryam Nawaz also announced plans to establish state-of-the-art cardiology facilities in eight cities across Punjab, including Mianwali, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum, Sahiwal, Murree, and Layyah.
