There has been a rise in matrimonial websites and apps which are also been used by youth for dating.
In conservative societies like Pakistan, it has been a challenge for young people to find a suitable match due to societal norms and expectations,
Dating for Muslims can be very different from Western practices. The introduction of matrimonial sights and apps such as Muzz (formerly Muzzmatch) have given young people the opportunity to find a match.
What is Muzz?
Formerly known as muzmatch, Muzz is a free Muslim dating and marriage app looking for serious relationships. Up to 6 million single Muslims here chat with each other in search of a partner.
Does it work?
According to the latest statistics, over 200,000 Muslim weddings take place through Muzz and 300 new couples are formed every day all over the world.
Muzz and Pakistanis
With the help of Muzz, the Pakistani youth have been looking for a partner with whom they can plan a future together because in our society, getting married is the biggest aim of people.
Feature
Just like a unique app, Muzz brings together a variety of features to offer:
You can match with your suitable partner.
You can insert the requirement of age, caste, location, religious beliefs, and other qualities you are looking for in a potential partner,
The application will scrutinize the results and find a reasonable match for you.
JI and Muzz
Muzz was clearly created to help single Muslims find their perfect partner while respecting their religious beliefs. still Pakistan’s political party ‘Jamaat-e-Islami’ has demanded the government to ban the app.
A statement issued by the religious party’s Sindh chapter asked the authorities to remove Muzz’s billboards from Karachi and other major urban centers. According to the party, it’s unethical and prohibited in Islam and since Pakistan is an Islamic country, it should be banned in no time.
Is banning a solution?
Let’s just agree, Pakistan is a bit of a conservative country and people living here are offended by the concept of dating and dating apps. Since its launch, the application is getting mixed reviews for the users and a lot of applications similar to nature like Tinder etc get banned by the PTA.
According to a few, such types of applications promote adultery and chaos among youngsters. On other hand, a social media user has found Muzz to be very “Islamic” compared to other “dating apps”. He said that even Muzz’s advertisement on billboards are decent and do not have pictures on them.
