The SUPARCO has announced that the Shawwal moon will be approximately 12 hours and 41 minutes old at sunset on March 19, making its sighting unlikely on Thursday evening.
Authorities have scheduled the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting in Islamabad to officially verify the moon, with Eidul Fitr expected to be observed on March 21.
According to the SUPARCO, the Shawwal moon will be born at 6:23 AM on March 19.
SUPARCO says that at sunset on March 19, the moon will be approximately 12 hours and 41 minutes old.
According to SUPARCO, the chances of sighting the Shawwal moon on the evening of March 19 are low. It is expected that this year, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be observed on March 21.
SUPARCO clarified that the final announcement regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has scheduled a meeting in Islamabad on March 19 to sight the Shawwal moon.
The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, with scholars from all sects, representatives from the Meteorological Department, and relevant institutions in attendance.
Zonal committees will review moon sighting testimonies from their respective areas and report to the central committee, which will then announce the sighting of the Eid-ul-Fitr moon.
