ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan wants to expand trade and economic relations with friendly countries.
During the meeting with the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Portugal Dr. Muhammad Khalid Ijaz and the Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Myanmar Imran Haider in the President’s House, the President urged the Ambassador-designate to Portugal to cooperate with his host country. Work to further strengthen bilateral trade relations.
President Alvi also emphasized the need to strengthen political, cultural, and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Portugal.
During the meeting with the Ambassador-designate for Myanmar, the President of the State emphasized strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
It should be remembered that Dr. Arif Alvi is still in the position of the President despite the completion of his term of office because according to the constitution, the current President is authorized to remain in office until the election of a new President.
Elections for the new president of Pakistan will be held on March 9, in which Asif Ali Zardari of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the ruling alliance will compete and Mahmood Khan Achakzai of the opposition alliance.
