In another case of police brutality, Punjab Police reportedly entered a residence Chunian’s Punjab tehsil and assaulted women.
The violence took place in the Allahabad neighborhood of Chunian and was caught on camera. The footage went viral on social media, prompting a response from senior police officers.
After the video surfaced, a resident named Abdul Majeed claimed that the police had evicted his family from their home and handed the property over to powerful land grabbers. The District Police Officer (DPO) took notice of the incident and directed the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chunian to provide a report on the matter.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Omar Ayub condemned the Punjab Police for its brutal actions, referring to it as a “terror force” that has unleashed a reign of terror on political workers and citizens. In a scathing press conference following a PTI Core Committee meeting, Ayub criticized the lack of discipline under Dr. Usman’s leadership, citing the Bahawalnagar incident as an example.
Expressing dismay over recent arrests and incidents of violence, Ayub emphasized the importance of upholding the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law in Pakistan.
