LAHORE: Secretary of Punjab Assembly on Saturday said that voting for new chief minister of the province will not be held today.
The secretary said that today only the schedule of the election will be announced and it is the authority of the speaker to summon session for voting tomorrow or a day after tomorrow.
It should be noted that the Punjab Assembly is meeting today at 11 o’clock. Other candidates including PML-Q and PTI joint candidate Pervez Elahi and PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz will submit their nomination papers. The selection schedule will also be released.
The Assembly Secretariat has issued the agenda of the Assembly session and SOPs for electing the Leader of the House of the Provincial Assembly, according to which on the day of election of the Chief Minister, the members have to bring the Assembly Card as well as the Identity Card.

Members of the Punjab Assembly will not be able to bring guests with them, nor will any member be allowed to carry a mobile phone during the meeting. Women members have also been barred from bringing their bags in the House on the day of election of the Chief Minister.
It merits mention that amid ongoing political turmoil, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muahmmad Sarwar has accepted Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Umsan Buzdar’s resignation.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of PML-Q is candidate of PTI for the slot of CM, while joint opposition has nominated Hamza Shahbaz for the position.
