A case has been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the Provincial Assembly Ali Shah Khan in Swat after he allegedly assaulted a traffic police officer in the Road Shahi area.
According to police, the incident occurred on 4 January 2026, when Ali Shah Khan is accused of slapping, pushing and verbally abusing traffic constable Izzat Ali.
The case was registered on the complaint of the affected officer under Sections 500, 506, 186 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that the MPA allegedly misused his political influence and obstructed public servants in the performance of their official duties, which constitutes a violation of the law.
Police officials have reiterated that the law applies equally to all citizens, regardless of political status, and confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the law.
Following the incident, the local administration assured protection for the affected officer and stated that appropriate action would be taken against the accused.
Police have also appealed to the public to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies to ensure the rule of law and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The case has once again highlighted concerns regarding the conduct of public representatives and the need for strict enforcement of the law without discrimination.
