An Israeli Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a recovery operation in the West Bank.
According to The Times of Israel, the Israeli military reported that the helicopter went down while being recovered in the Gush Etzion area of the West Bank.
Earlier this week, the aircraft had made an emergency landing in an open area due to adverse weather conditions.
The military statement said the helicopter had landed in Gush Etzion on Tuesday because of severe weather, and a recovery operation was launched on Thursday to bring it back. During the operation, while the helicopter was being lifted, it suddenly detached and fell to the ground.
The Israeli military confirmed that no personnel were harmed and no injuries were reported in the incident. Following the crash, the head of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar, ordered the formation of a military investigation committee to determine the cause of the accident.
Black Hawk helicopters, known as “Yanshuf” in the Israeli Air Force, are used for routine transport as well as moving troops during military operations, including deployment and extraction of personnel.
