In Budaun district of India’s Uttar Pradesh, a 28-year-old woman, Pinky Sharma, took an unusual and surprising step by marrying an idol of Lord Krishna.
She chose to dedicate herself directly to divine love rather than entering a traditional human relationship.
The wedding ceremony followed traditional Hindu rituals in front of the entire village. There was no groom or horse in the procession; instead, the idol of Krishna was formally treated as the groom.
The idol was adorned with a garland, sindoor (vermilion) was applied to its forehead, and the couple completed the seven customary rounds (saat pheras). This unconventional marriage has sparked widespread discussion across India.
According to Pinky Sharma, her life is completely devoted to faith and devotion. She says her true happiness does not lie in worldly relationships but in the love and worship of God. Despite being educated, she always wished to dedicate her life entirely to Lord Krishna.
Pinky’s family has also accepted her decision. Her father stated that whenever marriage proposals were suggested, she would respond: “I will marry only when God decides, and He is my groom.”
Photos and videos of the unique wedding went viral on social media, sparking intense debate. Some view it as an expression of devotion and personal freedom, while many others consider it extreme, unusual, or a sign of mental strain.
