The Washington Post has published a shocking report implicating the Indian government in orchestrating terrorism in Pakistan, specifically pointing to its intelligence agency, RAW, in connection with targeted killings.
According to the report, RAW is allegedly responsible for the assassinations of at least six individuals within Pakistan, utilizing hired assassins and Afghan weapons.
The report highlights the assassination of Tamba, also known as Amir Sarfaraz, who had been previously accused of murdering an Indian intelligence agent while in prison. Following his killing, Pakistani officials, including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, have pointed to signs suggesting “India’s direct involvement” in a series of recent murders across Pakistan.
Since 2021, RAW has reportedly increased its covert operations, systematically targeting individuals linked to militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad. These operations often involve local criminals and Afghan mercenaries, rather than Indian nationals, to maintain a layer of deniability. Furthermore, intermediary networks in Dubai have reportedly facilitated these killings, with payments funneled through informal banking systems, or hawalas, that span multiple continents.
The report also reveals allegations that RAW has extended its assassination campaign beyond Pakistan, reportedly targeting Sikh separatists in countries like Canada and the United States. This suggests a broader strategic approach by India to employ assassination tactics that were first tested in Pakistan.
The article also references a 2014 comment by Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who suggested using covert means to counter Pakistan. According to former ISI Director General Asad Durrani, these ongoing covert operations benefit the political agendas of both countries, with neither side appearing willing to pursue peace.
