Negotiations between the United States and Iran are expected to take place in Pakistan on July 11, according to reports by Saudi media outlets Al Hadath and Al Arabiya.
The upcoming round of talks is said to focus on key areas of dispute between Washington and Tehran, including US sanctions on Iran, frozen Iranian assets in the United States, and Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Arabic media sources familiar with the matter, the composition of the Iranian delegation will be decided after the conclusion of funeral ceremonies for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The reports further suggest that the discussions aim to address long-standing diplomatic tensions between the two countries and explore possible avenues for de-escalation.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan and Qatar jointly facilitated the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last month, which helped pave the way for renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.
Neither the United States nor Iran has officially confirmed the location or timing of the proposed talks so far.
