In a significant development for US diplomatic operations in Pakistan, the US Consulates in Lahore and Karachi have resumed regular consular services.
Following a temporary suspension, visa processing and services for US citizens have been restored.
In a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, the US Mission Pakistan confirmed that the US Consulate General in Lahore has resumed providing consular services to US citizens.
It also announced that the US Consulate General in Karachi has restarted assistance for US citizens as well as the processing of non-immigrant visa applications.
Describing the development as a positive step, the US Mission said that both consulates in Lahore and Karachi are once again fully operational and providing routine consular services.
Officials have advised individuals seeking visas or other consular services to visit the official website of the US Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan, where they can find information on appointment procedures and the range of services currently available.
It is worth noting that consular activities at the US Consulates in Lahore and Karachi had been temporarily suspended earlier this year due to security concerns. With the security situation improving, normal operations have now resumed.
The restoration of consular services is expected to provide much-needed relief for visa applicants in Pakistan while also ensuring that US citizens once again have access to essential consular assistance and diplomatic support.
