Popular Indian actress Urvashi Rautela has publicly apologized to actor Saif Ali Khan after facing backlash for making insensitive comments about his recent stabbing incident. Rautela, who is currently celebrating the success of her latest Telugu film Daaku Maharaj, faced widespread criticism for her tone-deaf remarks during an interview.

The controversy erupted when Rautela, during an interview with ANI, was asked about the brutal attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. While she initially referred to the incident as “unfortunate,” her remarks quickly shifted focus to her recent film’s success and personal gifts she had received, which many found inappropriate given the gravity of the situation.

Rautela was quoted saying: “It is very unfortunate. Daaku Maharaj ke Rs. 105 crore ke success ke baad, my mother… unhone ne mujhe gift ki diamond-studded Rolex and my father ne mujhe ye choti si mini-watch gift kari. Abhi humne 105 paar kar diya hai toh it’s just a gift, but then hum confident nahi feel karenge bahar openly. We cannot wear kuch bhi. Ek insecurity ho jati hai ki anybody can attack us toh woh bohot zyada unfortunate hai.”

Her comments, which juxtaposed a violent attack with her personal achievements, led to a storm of criticism on social media, with many users accusing her of being “out of touch” and “delusional.”

Acknowledging the backlash, Rautela took to Instagram a few hours later to issue a heartfelt apology to Saif Ali Khan and his family. In her post, she expressed deep regret for her remarks and extended her support to the actor. The message read:

“Dear Saif Ali Khan sir, I hope this message finds you in strength. I am writing with a deep sense of regret and heartfelt apology. Until now, I was completely unaware of the intensity of the situation you are facing. I feel ashamed that I allowed myself to be consumed by the excitement surrounding Daaku Maharaj and the gifts I was receiving, instead of pausing to acknowledge and understand what you are going through. Please accept my sincerest apologies for being so ignorant and insensitive. Now that I know the gravity of your case, I am deeply moved and want to extend my unwavering support. Your grace, dignity, and resilience during such a challenging time are truly admirable, and I have nothing but immense respect for your strength. If there is any way I can be of help or support, please do not hesitate to let me know. Once again, I am truly sorry, sir, for my earlier indifference. I promise to do better and to always prioritize compassion and understanding in the future.”

Rautela’s apology has been met with some acceptance, with many acknowledging her willingness to admit her mistake. However, the incident has also sparked a broader conversation about the need for celebrities to be more mindful of their words, particularly in sensitive situations.
