KARACHI / MEHAR: Social activist and ‘daughter of Sindh’ Umme Rabab Chandio has issued a video statement addressed to Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Javed Alam Odho, strongly criticizing the law enforcement agency for its alleged failure to arrest suspects in a recent murder case.
According to Chandio, her father’s young cousin was killed 18 days ago by the same individuals previously acquitted in her family’s triple murder case.
She stated that following an initial response on the first day, the Sindh Police have made no further progress or conducted raids to apprehend the absconding suspects.
In her message, Chandio expressed frustration over the police’s performance, questioning the external pressures preventing the arrest of the accused.
She further alleged that Murtaza Chandio—a primary accused who had previously absconded for three years in the eight-year-old triple murder case involving her father, grandfather, and uncle—is once again being hidden and shielded by influential figures, including Sardar Chandio.
Umme Rabab Chandio alleged that Sardar Chandio was attempting to implicate her family by harming the hired perpetrators.
Reaffirming her commitment to a non-violent legal struggle, she stated that her family has consistently relied on the court system and will continue to pursue legal remedies.
She formally stated on record that should any further harm come to her or her family, accountability lies not only with the local tribal leaders and suspects, but also with key police officials due to alleged negligence—specifically naming IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Dharejo and SSP Dadu Saddam Khaskheli.
Police officials and representatives for Sardar Chandio have yet to issue an official response regarding the allegations.
