The Emirates Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security Authority has announced a new set of regulations for foreign residents in the UAE who wish to sponsor visit visas for their relatives or friends.
The updated policy aims to ensure financial stability and accountability for sponsors inviting visitors into the country.
According to the new rules, residents inviting first-degree relatives—such as parents, spouses, or children—must have a minimum monthly income of AED 4,000. The authority clarified that this requirement ensures the sponsor can adequately cover the guest’s accommodation and living expenses during their stay.
For second- and third-degree relatives, such as cousins, uncles, aunts, or in-laws, the income threshold has been raised. In such cases, the resident’s minimum monthly salary must be at least AED 8,000.
Meanwhile, residents wishing to invite friends or distant relatives for a visit are required to meet a higher income condition. Their monthly salary must be no less than AED 15,000, reflecting the increased responsibility associated with sponsoring non-immediate family members.
The authority emphasized that these regulations are part of broader efforts to streamline the UAE’s immigration and residency framework, ensuring that visa sponsors are capable of supporting their visitors financially and maintaining compliance with residency laws.
