Two new cases have been registered against Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
According to a report by ARY News on Saturday, the cases stem from allegations that her recent inflammatory statements were made to incite hatred, according to ARY News. These cases were filed under the Telegraph Act of 1885, with police stating they are following proceedings under Section 126 of the Act and other relevant laws.
The accusations claim that Bushra Bibi’s remarks were intended to provoke public emotions, particularly targeting Saudi Arabia and undermining the country’s foreign policy. The first case was filed in Dera Ghazi Khan by a citizen named Ghulam Yaseen, while the second was filed in Rajanpur by another individual, Hakeem.
Following the statements, PTI leaders distanced themselves from Bushra Bibi, clarifying that her views do not represent the party’s official stance. They stressed that she holds no formal role in PTI affairs, and only Imran Khan is authorized to dictate party policies. Sources within PTI also noted that Imran Khan had previously clarified her lack of involvement in politics.
The controversy began with Bushra Bibi’s comments about alleged interference by former COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa under foreign influence. She claimed that after Imran Khan’s visit to Madinah, General Bajwa received phone calls from foreign entities criticizing Khan’s leadership. According to Bushra Bibi, Bajwa was informed of plans to abolish Sharia and was told that Imran Khan was unsuitable for leadership.
