KHAIRPUR: Two people were killed 13 others sustained injuries when a passenger van collided with a car near Khairpur in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to sources, the accident occurred in Kot Diji, a town in Khairpur District of Sindh, where a fast-moving van collided with a car. As a result, 13 people including two women and a child sustained severe injuries.
Soon after the accident rescue officials reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where two succumbed to their injuries. Five of the critically injured persons were later referred hospital in Larkana for medical assistance.
On April 21, at least 13 people were killed and eight others sustained injuries when a passenger coach collided with a van on the old national highway in Sindh’s Khairpur district.
According to sources, the accident took place near Shah Abdul Latif University in Hussainabad, about 10 km from Khairpur city. Sources further said the accident occurred due to a broken tie rod in the passenger wagon heading towards Sukkur.
Eyewitnesses said they saw the tyre of the wagon detaching itself from the vehicle and going of control before hitting the passenger coach heading towards Sanghar from Sukkur.
The wagon was severely damaged in the crash, which turned into a pile of rubble. Passengers were left trapped in both vehicles after the accident.
Residents of the area rushed to help the injured and took them to Khairpur for treatment in private vehicles as well as government and Edhi ambulances.
