Twitter sees a flood of memes again as Instagram down globally

MENLO PARK: Two weeks after Facebook-owned apps faced a global outage for nearly an hour, Instagram has reportedly stopped functioning again globally on Tuesday.

Providing statistics, real-time problem and outage monitoring site Down Detector said it had received the most complaints at 7:39 pm, that the app was not functioning.

Like earlier, Twitter, however, is still working, and Twitterati quickly took to the micro-blogging website, flooding it with memes.

A user said, “People rushing to Twitter every time any social media platform is down.”

“Frustrated Audiences trying to open #Instagram as it is down RN.”

Recently, Facebook Inc’s platforms including WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram were down for thousands of users.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, there were more than 1.2 million incidents of people reporting issues with Instagram, while over 23,000 users posted about issues with WhatsApp on the website. Facebook Messenger seems to be affected as well, with more than 5,000 reports of problems on DownDetector.

Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outages might be affecting a larger number of users.
