Trump renews praise for Pakistan’s leaders, citing role in Middle East ceasefire

PHOENIX: President Donald Trump has once again praised the leadership of Pakistan, crediting the South Asian nation with playing a pivotal role in de-escalating a series of volatile conflicts across the Middle East.

Trump:

I want to thank the country of Pakistan and its great prime minister and its great, great field marshal; he is a great field marshal. pic.twitter.com/zxuA2o6uig

Speaking to a capacity crowd at Dream City Church during a Turning Point USA event in Arizona, for a rally centered on border security, the president shifted his focus toward international diplomacy to frame himself as a global peacemaker. He specifically highlighted his rapport with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff who has recently been addressed by the higher military rank.

Addressing the audience from the podium, Trump expressed his gratitude toward the country and its top officials, describing both the prime minister and the field marshal as fantastic people. He placed particular emphasis on his relationship with Munir, referring to the military leader as a great field marshal and a key partner in regional stability.

The commendation follows Pakistan’s involvement in brokering ceasefire efforts and facilitating diplomatic channels involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. Trump suggested that these collaborative efforts were essential in cooling broader tensions that have recently threatened to engulf Israel, Lebanon, and the Palestinian territories.

The remarks, observers note, align with the president’s established pattern of using personal diplomacy and public praise to manage complex foreign relations. Throughout his address, Trump positioned his administration as the primary architect of current regional truces, even claiming that his personal intervention had previously prevented a major military escalation between India and Pakistan.

The comments triggered an immediate reaction across social media and international news cycles, with video segments of the speech moving rapidly across platforms such as TikTok and X, while major Pakistani media outlets provided continuous coverage of the president’s endorsement of their national leadership. Analysts suggest the public display of support reinforces the strategic importance of the Islamabad-Washington corridor in navigating contemporary Middle Eastern security challenges.
