The Dumper and Oil Tanker Association has started a protest in Karachi, the country’s largest city, threatening to block the city’s entry points. Transporters have parked freight vehicles on the national highway.
According to details, dozens of deaths have occurred due to accidents involving dumpers in Karachi. Citizens are protesting against the recent fatalities, and in anger, they have set fire to dumpers and trucks on multiple occasions. In response, the Dumper Association and transport owners have taken action.
The Dumper and Oil Tanker Association has announced a protest in the city. Transporters have parked freight vehicles on the national highway. Association President Liaquat Mehsud stated, “We will park our vehicles and block the city’s entry points. We will leave our transport on the roads.”
Liaquat Mehsud further said that 15 different associations are part of the protest. “We have obtained court permission for dumpers to enter the city. Any vehicle involved in an accident will face legal action.”
In a latest incident, another man died on the way to the hospital after a speedy dumper truck hit his motorcycle in Musharraf Colony of Karachi on Tuesday. The deceased was later identified as Siddique who was 30 years old.
The accident occurred near Sheeraz Bus Stand Hawksbay in Karachi. Police after registering a case started an investigation. Two days ago, five people were crushed to death in two different accidents involving dumpers in different places of the metropolis.
