KARACHI: After the Hazara Express accident, the railway track has been restored on Monday morning to resume train traffic.
Railways officials made hectic efforts to resume traffic by opening the track after more than 16 hours. Senior railway official were present to restore the train track where the accident occurred.
Pakistan Army, Rangers and Railway teams took part to restore the railway track. Railways officials said down track has been cleared and a single line is working. More than six train have crossed the accident site after the track was restored.
The Hazara Express has left for its destination after the accident. The train was restored and sent with the remaining coaches.
Sukkur Express which departs from Karachi at 11 o’clock at night was dispatched from the station after a delay of nine hours.
Green line will reach Karachi station at 11 am, 17 hours behind schedule. Rehman Baba and Green Line Express have arrived in Karachi came from Nawabshah.
In the tragic accident accident, 30 people were killed and more than 100 were injured after ten bogies of the Hazara Express derailed near Sarhari railway station near Nawabshah.
According to the figures released by the administration of People’s Medical Hospital in Nawabshah, 30 dead bodies and 64 injured were brought to the hospital.
Medical Superintendent Dr Aqeel Qureshi said 27 dead bodies have been handed over to the heirs of the victims and sent to their native areas. He said 35 injured are currently undergoing treatment at PMC Hospital.
He said three dead bodies are present in the mortuary and have not been identified. He said an emergency has been imposed at the hospital and medical assistance is being provided.
