The trailer of the Indian film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, based on gang warfare in Lyari, has been released, marking the return of Ranveer Singh in a high-octane action role.
The film is directed by Aditya Dhar, who has also written and produced the project. It will be released in five languages — Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada — and is scheduled to hit cinemas on 19 March, coinciding with Eidul-Fitr.
Following the huge success of the first instalment of Dhurandhar, fans had been eagerly awaiting the trailer. As promised by director Aditya Dhar, the trailer was released today at 11:01am.
The film’s poster already hinted at an intense and thrilling experience for viewers. The first instalment was widely successful in India and internationally and was praised for its gripping storyline and action sequences.
The 1 minute 25 second trailer opens with the character Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, who is confronted by terrorists. As the confrontation escalates and an attempt is made to insult the country, Ranveer Singh appears in the role of Hamza Ali Mazari and eliminates the attackers.
The trailer portrays scenes of violence, fear and chaos across Lyari. It also shows that following the killing of gangster Rehman Dakait, Hamza Ali Mazari unleashes destruction in the streets of Lyari, raising the question of who will become the new leader of the area.
According to the producers, the sequel will not be limited to a spy narrative this time. Instead, the story will take on a more personal dimension, with unknown characters coming to the forefront, while Ranveer Singh will appear in two different roles.
