Reports have emerged of counterfeit Rs5,000 banknotes circulating in various markets across Karachi, prompting traders and the public to exercise caution during cash transactions.
According to sources, counterfeiters are allegedly using various methods to pass fake currency to shoppers and businesses, raising concerns among the city’s commercial community.
Karachi Electronics Dealers Association President Rizwan Irfan said that several incidents involving transactions with counterfeit Rs5,000 notes have been reported in the electronics market, increasing anxiety among traders.
He advised both consumers and business owners to carefully verify high-denomination banknotes during purchases and sales and to adopt appropriate precautionary measures to avoid becoming victims of counterfeit currency.
