Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures on Tuesday unveiled a first extended look at Digger, a dark comedy featuring Tom Cruise and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, during their CinemaCon presentation.
Both the lead actor and filmmaker were present at the event to preview the upcoming film, which has already generated strong industry buzz.
The film presents Cruise in an unusual and transformative role, with early teaser footage showing him dancing while holding a shovel.
The trailer introduces his character, Digger Rockwell, a balding, overweight industrialist who meets a doctor about his pet cat, which is reportedly given “two weeks or five minutes” to live.

In another scene, he is seen in pajamas, swinging a baseball bat and speaking in a Southern accent while aggressively berating himself, highlighting the film’s satirical tone.
Cruise also shared his excitement about the project on Instagram, reflecting on his CinemaCon experience and praising the creative work behind the film.
He expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming release, calling it a celebration of cinema and collaboration with Iñárritu.
He further revealed that he and the director enjoyed presenting a sneak peek of Digger, adding that they look forward to its theatrical release in October.
