ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Shoaib won boys singles and doubles title in Tajammul and Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Championships, concluded at S. Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.
Shoaib, who is stoned second in the boys singles event, zapped compatriot Ahmed Kamil in the summit clash recording a 6-0, 6-0 victory. With the first ITF title to his belt, Shoaib has gained valuable 30 ITF points.
Meanwhile, Shoaib and Ahmed Kamil joined forces in boys’ doubles event to beat Turk duo of Duran Birtan and Ozlale Kerem and recorded a 6-3, 4-6, 14-12 victory after a tough battle.
In girls singles event, the third seed from Turkey Mina Toglukdemir overpowered top seeded Chinese player Ren Ke after a thrilling encounter by 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-4 score.
A total of 50 players from 20 countries namely Azerbaijan, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, Great Britain, Romania, Nepal, Italy, China, Iran, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, USA, Malaysia, Korea, Sri Lanka and host Pakistan participated in this championships.
