OKARA: Police on Tuesday have arrested three suspects for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl in Okara when she was travelling in a rickshaw.
Police said that the accused were traced and arrested within 12 hours with the assistance of CCTV footage.
The prime suspect was identified as Zeeshan and his two accomplices Mudasir and Fayyaz. The suspects have been shifted to an unidentified place for investigation.
The rape case was registered on the complaint of 18-year-old rape victim girl’s father Muhammad Mushtaque at PS Hujra.
The girl was subjected to gang-rape after she was returning to her home in Okara’s Noor Elahi Basti after finishing her work as a domestic helper in Lahore’s DHA.
According to the police, rickshaw driver, Zeeshan had forcefully taken the victim girl to a nearby dera against dropping the girl to her home.
Two men were already present in the room, who along with Zeeshan gang-raped the girl. The rape cases are being frequently from Punjab.
In one such case earlier this month, a girl in Punjab’s Gujrat died after being allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by three men.
Three men kidnapped a girl from Chak Ghazi in Gujrat district on September 1. The accused gave a tranquilizer to the girl and then raped her.
Later, the accused left the victim girl in a critical condition.
The victim died soon after the incident as the culprits dumped her upon the deterioration of her condition and fled the scene, said police.
