QUETTA: At least three personnel of the Levies Force were martyred and as many injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in Balochistan’s Ziarat district on Thursday.
The incident took place in the Mangi Dame area of the district. The martyred men include Rasaldar Major Mir Zaman, Naib Rasaldar Mudasir, and Sepoy Zainullah.
Provincial government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani has confirmed the development, saying that the injured were sent to a hospital in Quetta for treatment.
Security sources said four labourers working at Mangi Dam were kidnapped by unidentified armed suspects. The Levies party was travelling to the area to get the workers released when it hit the landmine.
In a separate incident in the province earlier today, one personnel, Subedar Aslam was martyred while two other personnel were injured.
The attack comes a few days after a captain of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom while two other soldiers sustained injuries as their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) in Tobo, Balochistan.
“Security Forces vehicle struck an IED planted by terrorists in Tobo, Gichik Balochistan. Resultantly Capt Kashif embraced shahadat while 2 soldiers got injured,” the military’s media wing stated on Sunday.
