Three freight trucks set on fire in the Landhi and Korangi areas of Karachi, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, one truck in Korangi No. 6 and two trucks in Landhi were set on fire and the unknown accused fled.
As per the police, the trucks that caught fire were loaded with various types of goods, however, no one was injured in the incident. A fire brigade vehicle reached the spot and is busy extinguishing the fire. Police say that the affected trucks were going from Quaidabad Dawood Chowrangi to Korangi Crossing.
On the other hand, DIG East Usman Ghani has taken strict notice of the incident and has issued instructions to take legal action against the accused.
He said that no one will be allowed to disturb the law and order situation in the city and strict action will be taken against the elements who started the fire. Police officials have started an investigation to trace the accused.
It should be noted that after a dumper crashed three motorcyclists to death in the Karangi area two days ago, the leader of a political party had demanded the government restrict the entry of heavy traffic in the city and had warned that if the government did not take action the youths of the city would take the action themselves against the heavy traffic causing fatal accident every day.
