Motorway Police in Punjab have announced the closure of several motorways due to thick fog that severely reduced visibility on Tuesday morning. The affected motorways include M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-3 from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem, M-4 from Pindi Bhatian to Faisalabad, and M-11 from Lahore to Sialkot.
Motorway Police spokesman Syed Imran Ahmad confirmed that dense fog had blanketed key sections of the National Highway, including areas around Thokar Niaz Baig, Pattoki, Okara, and Sahiwal. The poor visibility prompted the authorities to shut down these motorways for all types of traffic, prioritizing the safety and security of travelers.
Ahmad explained that fog often leads to lane violations, which can be a major cause of accidents. To minimize risks, he advised drivers to maintain proper lane discipline, use vehicle lights, and keep a safe distance from other cars. He also recommended traveling between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., when visibility is generally better.
For any assistance, travelers are encouraged to contact the Motorway Police Helpline at 130.
