Barbie star Margot Robbie has finally opened up about not being nominated in an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
The actress along with movie director Greta Gerwig were not nominated for the fantasy comedy which reflected on the snub following a screening of the film at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
Robbie during a panel discussion said, “Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is.” She added that but it’s been an incredible year for all the films.
According to the actress, there’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed. ‘Barbie’ received a total of eight nominations at the 96th Academy Awards, competing for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design, along with Best Supporting Actor and Actress.
Released in July 2023, the movie grossed $1.4 billion at the global box office and went on to become Warner Bros. Pictures’ No. 1 domestic release of all time.
