ISLAMABAD: The inside story of the first meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has come out. The Prime Minister declared controlling inflation as his first priority.
According to the details, the prime minister while presiding over the first meeting of the Federal Cabinet said that the people are suffering from inflation while the elites are getting subsidies. He claimed a handful of elites have captured 90% of the country’s resources. Three times the annual tax revenue of FBR goes into the pockets. He said ‘we have decided to slot honest officers’.
Speaking during the meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that while tax is being discussed on retailers, tax is not imposed on wholesalers and salaries are paid from loans.
He claimed ‘there are Himalayan challenges in the way of war against poverty, inflation, corruption, and unemployment. We were brought to power to serve the nation. The government will work day and night’.
During the conversation, the prime minister said that the increase in the prices of essential commodities during Ramadan is unacceptable. “Economic recovery is our first agenda, we will not spare those involved in tax evasion,” he said by adding, “instead of a tax, the tax base will increase. Controlling the rise in commodity prices during Ramadan will be the biggest test for the government.”
