The history is a witness that Pakistan always has a soft corner for Afghanistan and always treated it as a friend and brother country. On the occasion of the American withdrawal, when the situation of insecurity arose in Afghanistan, Pakistan sheltered a large number of Afghan refugees. Apart from food grains, other items were provided in large quantities, and other steps were taken by Pakistan at all levels for the betterment of Afghans. But in returned Pakistan never got the love and respect, which it deserved, from Kabul.
Last Friday, the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul narrowly escaped an assassination attempt, while the Pakistani security guard who was guarding the head of the Pakistani mission was injured during the firing incident. He was hit by three bullets on his chest. But he left no stone unturned to save the life of the head of the Pakistani mission. This attack was strongly condemned by Pakistan.
The matter did not end here. On Sunday, ISPR issued a statement that six Pakistani civilians were martyred due to unprovoked firing and shelling from Afghanistan, while 17 injured were given medical aid. Afghan border security forces targeted the heavily populated area of Chaman in Pakistan with heavy weapons. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the incident and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah expressed deep concern.
After happening this kind of incidents time and again, every Pakistani is seriously thinking if we are maintaining on-sided friendship with Afghanistan. In this situation, the government of Pakistan need to take all these untoward incidents very seriously and take concrete steps in this regard.
