A teenage maid who was sexually assaulted in Abbottabad has died in the hospital, as reported by national media on Sunday.
In the Habibullah Colony area of Abbottabad, the 14-year-old domestic worker who was sexually assaulted passed away in the hospital. The innocent girl had been working at the house of the accused, Haris, for seven months.
According to her father, she had been subjected to continuous sexual violence. When her condition deteriorated, she was taken to the hospital but could not survive.
The postmortem conducted at Ayub Medical Complex confirmed the sexual assault. There were clear marks of violence on the girl’s body. Doctors revealed that the girl not only faced sexual violence but was also deprived of food and water.
DSP Siraj Ahmed stated that the accused, Haris, has been arrested and a case has been registered. After the postmortem, the girl’s body was handed over to her father.
It should be noted that this is hardly an isolated case of violence and murder targeting domestic workers. Similar incidents have occurred in the recent past, prompting social media users to criticize the country’s justice system.
The public believes that minors from poor families are often employed by wealthy and influential individuals as domestic workers and then subjected to sexual exploitation. Bringing such perpetrators to justice is the need of the hour.
