Tania Aidrus announces to resign as SAPM Digital Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Pakistan Tania Aidrus has announced to resign from her position. 
The special assistant said the criticism levied towards the state as a consequence of her citizenship status is clouding the purpose of Digital Pakistan.
“In the greater public interest, I have submitted my resignation from the SAPM role. I will continue to serve my country and the PM’s vision to my best abilit,” she said.
The special assistant said that she has written a letter to the prime minister informing him of her decision to resign from her position.
She said that she returned to Pakistan with the “singular intent to contribute and develop the vision of Digital Pakistan”
“I always was and shall be a Pakistani,” she said adding the recent discourse in the public sphere regarding her Canadian nationality, which was due to her birth and not a acqusition of choice, is a “distraction to my ability to executive on the long-term vision for a Digitial Pakistan.”
“It is unfortunate that a Pakistani’s desire to serve Pakistan is clouded by such issues,” she said, urging the prime minister to accept her resignation.
She said she will continue to serve the vision and the country in private and public domain wherever necessary.
