HOBART: In their opening clash, Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by 9 wickets in T20 World Cup match with 30 balls to spare, played at the Bellerive Oval here on Sunday.
Batting first, Ireland posted 128 for 8 wickets, with Harry Tector highest scoring with 4f runs off 42 balls, and Paul Stirling scoring 34 runs off 24 balls.
Responding to the 139 runs target, Sri Lanka scored 131 runs in 15 overs, with Kusal Mendis scoring 68 runs off 43 balls.
