Mumbai police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, according to reports from Indian media.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning at Saif’s residence in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building in Bandra, where he lives with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, and their two sons, Taimur and Jeh. Police say an intruder broke into Saif’s four-floor apartment on the 12th floor. When the actor confronted the trespasser, a violent altercation ensued, leaving Saif with six stab wounds.
The assailant managed to escape the scene, but CCTV footage captured the suspect climbing down the building’s stairs following the confrontation.
Following an intense manhunt, police arrested a suspect believed to be the attacker. While his identity is yet to be officially confirmed, law enforcement officials suspect he is the same person seen in the CCTV footage. The suspect was detained after questioning several individuals who resembled the man in the video. Authorities also noted that the man arrested was carrying a backpack similar to the one seen in the footage.
Saif Ali Khan, who was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for emergency surgery following the attack, is currently recovering. The 54-year-old actor sustained six stab wounds, including one to his neck. Doctors have reported that Saif is “doing very well” and his condition has improved significantly. He has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to a private room, where he is expected to continue his recovery.
The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the motive behind the attack.
