A gas pipeline near Akhtarabad in Quetta was destroyed in a suspected explosion, triggering a large fire and immediate suspension of gas supply to the Western Bypass and surrounding areas.
Authorities, including police and gas company officials, rushed to the scene, and investigations are underway to determine whether the blast was an act of sabotage.
Unknown individuals destroyed the gas pipeline near Akhtarabad through an explosion, which led to flames erupting from the pipeline. The blast caused panic in the area, and the fire could be seen from a distance.
The General Manager of Sui Southern Gas Company Balochistan said that after security clearance today, an assessment of the damage would be conducted.
He added that pipes required for repairs would have to be brought from Karachi, and residents should make arrangements for alternative gas sources for a day or two.
Due to the incident, gas supply to the Western Bypass and surrounding areas has been immediately suspended. Authorities said the situation is being assessed to restore gas supply and estimate the damage.
