GWADAR: A suicide car bomb attack struck a Pakistan Coast Guards post in Panwan Jiwani, Gwadar district, on Friday evening, leaving four security personnel martyred and 16 others injured, officials and local sources confirmed.
According to details gathered by MM News from multiple sources, the attacker rammed a cargo truck laden with explosives into the Panwan post building at high speed, causing a massive blast that reduced much of the structure to rubble.
The explosion was heard several kilometers away, with thick plumes of smoke rising over the coastal area.
Separatist group BLA, after claiming responsibility, has released video of the attack.
Security officials said three Coast Guards personnel and one Pakistan Army soldier lost their lives in the attack. Sixteen others sustained injuries, with one reported to be in critical condition.
The injured were rushed to hospitals in Jeyuni and Gwadar, while the critically wounded was shifted to Gwadar for advanced treatment.
Sources added that around 20 personnel from the Third Battalion of the Coast Guards and the 32nd Punjab Regiment were deployed at the outpost, which lies about 10 kilometers from Jeyuni city and is considered vital for monitoring the coastal belt.
Following the incident, District Police Gwadar, Frontier Corps, and other law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched rescue operations. Investigations into the bombing are underway.
