LARKANA: A medical student Namrita Kumari of Larkana was found dead in her hostel room on Monday night under suspicious circumstances.
A student, Namrita Kumari, was found lying on a charpoy with a rope tied to her neck while her room was locked from inside. She was studying at a dental college in Larkana but living at a hostel of a different college in the same city.
According to the police, it was early to say whether she committed suicide or had been murdered. The body was shifted to the district headquarter hospital for postmortem, but the police awaited her parents to arrive.
Kumari’s colleagues were worried when she did not respond to their knocks on the door and calls. They then called the hostel’s watchman who broke open the door and found Namrita lying dead on the floor.
The deceased had two roommates, whose statements will be recorded as part of the investigation into her death, the police have taken the student’s phone into its custody.
According to the vice-chancellor of college, Dr. Anila Attaur Rehman said that the incident appeared to be one of suicide but the police will be able to ascertain the actual cause of death after the postmortem.
Born in Mirpur Mathelo, a district of Ghotki, Namrita Kumari was studying at Arfa dental college in Larkana. Her parents, who live in Karachi, had been informed about the death of their daughter.
