SHEIKHUPURA: Two students were killed on Tuesday and nine children were injured when a school van collided with a train in district Sheikhpura.
The unfortunate incident took place at a railway crossing in Chak 4 Rasala. A female student was killed and nine children were injured in the accident. Rescue teams of Rescue 1122 Sheikhupura reached the spot and are engaged in rescue operations.
According to details, a train coming from Shorkot collided with a van carrying college students at Bahrianwal Phattak area of Sheikhupura. The college van was transporting the female college students from Chak 4 Rasala to Sheikhupura.
The injured students are being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital. The students of Superior College, Ideal College and Pir Bihar Shah College were present in the van. All the students are residents of the same village.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the crash and issued directives for provision of the best possible medical facilities to the injured. He sought a report on the accident from the district administration.
On October 26, At least two people lost their lives and 12 sustained injuries after heavy iron rollers fell on a passenger van in Ferozewala city of Punjab.
The incident took place at the Nain Sukh roundabout. It was learnt that two iron rollers fell on a passenger van from a loader truck in Ferozewala, killing at least two persons on the spot and injuring 12 others.
The truck’s driver fled from the scene after the accident. The rescue team and local administration rushed to the site to extract the people trapped in the van after pulling the heavy rollers with a crane. The accident caused the suspension of traffic on Lahore-Sheikhupura road.
