ISLAMABAD: Pakistani climber Muhammad Ali Sadpara along with his team has postponed the expedition to ascend the savage mountain, K2 without oxygen, due to strong snowy winds.
According to sources, the expedition has been postponed till January 29 due to bad winter. Sadpara, his son and a foreign climber were on a mission to ascend K2 without oxygen for last two days.
Muhammad Ali Sadpara along with his son Sajid announced to hoist the Pakistan flag at the K2 peak on Monday (today) morning after scaling the second highest peak of the globe.
They will continue their attempt to summit the mountain after the normalization of snowy winds. Meanwhile, one member of the team was shifted to base camp after his health worsened.
Earlier on Sunday, Muhammad Ali Sadpara and son Sajid Sadpara began their journey with team member John Snorri in a bid to set a world record by successfully summiting the savage mountain in winter.
“We will make Pakistan proud by achieving the milestone of climbing the top peak without oxygen,” the experienced mountaineer said adding that although their mission was difficult, but not impossible.
Earlier on January 16, a 10-member team of Nepali climbers became the first mountaineers to summit the world’s second-highest peak K-2 in the winter season.
